Sea Oat at Sunset | FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHY by Rachel Abrahams

Confession: I've been super terribly horribly bad about posting on my blog lately.

I just can't get a schedule going that keeps everything consistent but I am definitely working on it. In the meanwhile, to appease the masses I wanted to share this picture I took while in Venice Beach, Florida two weekends ago. It was my first time being on a Florida beach and getting to watch the sun set over the ocean. I live on the East Coast, which means getting up at O-Dark-30 to get a Sunrise view. There will be more of these pictures soon, I promise! It was pointed out to me recently that for living on the beach, I definitely don't have enough beach pictures. Challenge Accepted!

When you go to the beach, when is your favorite time to visit? Morning? Bright & sunny daytime? Storms? Evening? I personally prefer the later in the day into sunset portion since I burn so easily. I also know the cardinal rule - don't swim in the ocean around sunset. That's feeding time (YIKES!).

All Tuckered Out From Swimming | FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHY by Rachel Abrahams

Otis stayed with my parents last weekend and had many adventures while he was there. My parents have a pool and with his being blind, it made me nervous he was going to fall in. He doesn't float well and just sinks like a stone. So, to alleviate my fears, my parents went out and bought Otis his very own yellow swim vest. Apparently the first one was too tiny and they had to go back for another. This one doesn't zip up all the way because Otis doesn't really have a neck (it's all one straight line from his head to his shoulders), so as my cousin pointed out on Facebook, his yellowness and semi-zipped look makes him appear like a banana.

A swimming, floating banana - that barks.

He loved being able to swim and the vest helped keep him cool. What's awesome is when he's done and doesn't feel like swimming anymore, he just barks to notify anyone in the pool he's done. After that, just grab his handles and up and out he goes! Easy peezie.

Swimming is a lot more activity than he usually gets, so he was completely ZONKED when I came to pick him up and for the rest of the night. Whattabum.

Walking The Courtyard - Loews Portofino Bay | FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHY by Rachel Abrahams

I have been doing a lot of clean up of my photos and trying to see what needs to stay/go and came across this wonderful photo - already watermarked and ready to go! I have no idea how I never shared this before as it really appeals to me. Something about the wonderful golden background, with the patterns up high, contrasting against the shadows in the foreground and the darkness of the gentleman walking up this hallway is enchanting for me.

This was taken at the Loews Portofino Bay hotel in Orlando, FL. They had this lovely interior hallway leading to their restrooms and multiple conference rooms. I loved how they took the time to decorate it like an outdoor Italian courtyard, even though it was entirely inside!

Hollywood Beach - AM/PM | FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHY by Rachel Abrahams

I wanted to share my day and night images of Hollywood Beach, Florida. I tried for a sunrise shot as well but the hotel room was so cold it not only fogged my lens for almost 10 minutes but my internal sensor went haywire. I took some shots but later, upon inspection on my computer (and it not being 6AM with me delirious), they were just too hazy to be any good.

On the left is the inter coastal waterway and on the right is the Atlantic Ocean.
